Final Post

For My RILS I created a persuasive video on why using www.soundation.com would put my students at the top of Blooms Taxonomy. Creativity involves all of the other facets of the taxonomy. In the creative process the students, remember, understand & apply knowledge, analyze and evaluate outcomes, results, successes and failures as well as processes to produce a final product. This process helps create whole brain learners who are better equipped to face any challenge academia can toss their way.

Target Audience
My middle school advanced chorus class Music

For my R.I.L.S I chose to revisit my earlier web 2.0 tool Soundation. Since learning about Soundation in a previous assingment I have been playing with this free online sequencing software. I found that this software is not as extensive as other sequencing softwares that I use like Reason, Protools or Logic. However, for this to be a free online tool it is pretty good. In my exploration of soundation I found the Edit note option. The edit note option allows you to draw in your pitch and rhythm. The edit note option also allows you to change the vlocity of the notes in real time. In the free mode soundation has 7 instruments that can be played via a MIDI controller. A student could play a melody in first an then go into the edit note mode and make any pitch or rhythm corrections he/she might like.

One other cool features that I found while on this virtual exploration of Soundation was THE WUB Machine. Wow this is a cool and powerful tool. This virtual instrument allows you to shape the sound and rhythm of the as you play it.The WUB Machine allows you to controll the shape of the wave and the speed of the osculations and that's just the surface. These two options alone can provide enough options for hundreds of songs.

Along with the virtual instruments Soundation also provides a pretty large bank of audio samples. the combination of samples and virtual instruments give the user a nice variety of tool to produce original compositions.
Because this Web 2.0 tool has a relatively small learning curve, I think my students will be able to use Soundation successfully.

BP_4 EDMODO

Today, I like to tell you about Edmodo or the Facebook of the education world, as I would like to call it. Edmodo is a web 2.0 tool that can help bring any class room into the 21st century. Edmodo is a free and secure social learning network for teachers, students and schools. Edmodo provides classrooms a safe and easy way to connect and collaborate, offering a real-time platform to exchange ideas, share content, and access homework, grades and school notices. Edmodo is unique because it promotes anytime, anyplace learning. Edmodo allows teachers to post messages, discuss classroom topics, assign and grade classwork, share content and materials, and network and exchange ideas with their peers.
Because Edmodo looks like a normal social networking site students are already familiar with the learning curve is not step. The user-friendly platform allows only students that are enrolled into a particular class to communicate. This function keeps the teacher in control of the virtual environment. The cool part about Edmodo is that it has a mobile app. This allows teachers to post assignments on the go and it allows students that may have missed class to view the information or assignment they missed.
As a Fine Arts teacher Edmodo can allow me to set each of my classes up separately. This gives each class a platform to communicate what went on in class to give feed back to me and to peer tutor each other virtually. For my drama class Edmodo allows me to post their videos and allows each class member to give constructive criticism to the groups who’s videos have been posted. I look forward to using this web2.0 tool creatively.

PE3_iMovie

The drama class that I teach is a new class I am offering at my school. One thing that I must do is recruit. I think that making a trailer for this class will be a great recruitment tool. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Overall, I am glad that I completed this this training. I learned a lot of things that will enhance my classroom. It is good to have a certificate that says I have completed this training. People can take material things away from you but knowledge is yours forever.

Chapter 5, this is where things liven up a little. The author told me to turn on show advanced tools… & finally the clouds went away and the rays of sunshine that this wonderful tool has to offer began to show. For the level of editing that I plan on doing iMovie is more than capable. I teach drama and I have been looking for a way to use green screen, picture in picture and split screen. Now that I know I have a tool that does it and makes it simple I cannot wait to see what my class can come up with.

I am also a musician and the edit to the beat feature would be a great way to make a music video. The edit to the beat feature has a short cut that allows you to press the letter M while the song is playing and set markers for clips to sink to this is cool. Look out for a music video from me coming soon edited in iMovie.

This week I have to watch a video from lyndia.com.  I have never watched a training video before. When I saw that this training was three hours long I started looking for the 5 hour energy drinks.  For the first few chapters I found my eyelids playing tag with one another.  Since starting this EMTD program I have been using iMovie to complete various projects, but have never watched one training video.  I found the program very intuitive.

I am taking a pause on chapter 4. I hope the forth coming chapters will offer a little more than the previous four.  I really think the first four chapters of this training would be better suited in month one of the EMTD program

BP3 soundation.com

What’s up world? As you can probably tell by now I love, live, and breathe music. So for this weeks assignment I was determined to find a web 2.0 tool that I could really be useful for my environment. I found quite a few but the one that I had the most success with was www.soundation.com. This tool was very intuitive for any one that had a basic knowledge of sequencing.  The basic function is very similar to grageband for all of you Mac user. The lay out of this web 2.0 tool will be ideal for teaching my class the basic principles of sequencing while allowing them to stay creative as possible. The drag and drop feature of the copyright free sample are a great starting point for creating an original track.

When you open soundaton you get a blank slate. This workspace is preloaded with four tracks. These tracks can be used to sequence MIDI, VST's and live audio. This allows you to use samples or create completely original ideas. I created an original Idea analog and included a sample in less than five minutes.  Creativity is highly ranked on bloom's taxonomy. This web 2.0 tool will allow my students to create and record original songs that can be shared with the world. I love sharing my world music and passion for composition with my students and the world. Soundation can start students on careers in music engineering , arranging , composition and as an artist. Isn't that what education should be about helping students find their passion? Talk to you later…..

BP2 iGoogle PLE

I have been using i Google since month one everyday. It has become the center of my digital universe. My home page has every thing on it. FSO links, Facebook, word press you name it its there. I also have music news ans the local weather plus g mail.

My FSO tab has some of the same things from my home page. I like the idea of keeping my business and pleasure on two different tabs. I think I will change my home page now.

Last but not least is my resource page it has all the required links plus a guitar app. I love music. Currently I am learning to play the guitar. I hope to be fluent at it soon.
